FotoFacial RF™

This procedure utilizes the Aurora™ by Syneron which is a machine that combines intense pulsed light (IPL) with radio frequency (RF) electrical energy to give an added effect.

Energy is emitted over a broad spectrum so that wave lengths from 550 – 600 target blood vessels, 700 – 800 hit brown spots and those wave lengths above 1000 penetrate deeper and heat up water in the collagen producing a localized injury which stimulates new collagen production to soften fine lines. In addition, the radio frequency electrical energy appears to have a tissue tightening effect.

Gentle Waves®

This new device consists of reflective panels with more than 2000 light emitting diodes. They emit low intensity light of a single wave length which has been found to selectively activate fibroblasts. Fibroblasts are skin cells that mainly produce new collagen but also make an enzyme, which breaks down old or damaged collagen. Gentle Waves® affect the “chemical computer” of the fibroblast so they are stimulated to produce greater amounts of new collagen and less of the enzyme that breaks down collagen. This process is somewhat analogous to plants being chemically changed by light to produce chlorophyll via photosynthesis.

The net effect is that Gentle Waves® stimulates the production of more collagen that results in significant smoothing of skin texture, softening of fine lines, and tightening of pores. Gentle Waves® can be used alone or to enhance results of microdermabrasion treatments, Foto Facial RF™-Aurora™ by Syneron and Cool Touch® III laser treatments.

SKIN RESURFACING, WRINKLES, ACNE SCARS

Treatment to soften lines on the face and neck as well as to diminish depressed acne scars is available in our office utilizing the Candela V-Beam™ and Cool Touch® III lasers.

The Candela V-Beam™ laser is used to heat up blood vessels while the Cool Touch® III laser heats up water in the collagen. The tissue injury produced by the lasers results in the release of wound healing chemicals (tissue growth factors) which stimulate new collagen formation to decrease wrinkles and acne scars. Gentle Waves® treatment immediately following the lasers enhances results.

Brown Spots

Flat brown age spots (solar lentigines) on the face or other sun exposed areas can be treated with the Q-switch Candela AlexLazr™.

Immediately after treatment the lesions become red and swell for a short time and then develop superficial dark scabs. These fall off after several days leaving pink spots which gradually come back to normal skin color over the next 2 – 3 weeks.

Is this procedure painful?

With topical anesthesia the procedure is essentially painless.

How many treatments will I need?

Usually 1 – 2 treatment sessions are necessary to essentially clear an area of brown blemishes.

Tattoos

Utilizing our “state-of-the-art” Continuum Medlite™ IV laser and Q-Switch Candela Alexlazr™, we have the capability of removing nearly all tattoos.

Is this procedure painful?

Since topical and local anesthesia are used, there is essentially no pain with this procedure.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on the type of ink injected, and whether the procedure was done by an amateur or professional, will determine the number of treatments required to remove a tattoo.

On the average, multicolored professional tattoos require 8 to 12 sessions, while dark (blue, black), more superficial, amateur tattoos need 4 to 6 treatments, all spaced approximately 6 weeks apart.

How will I know if I am a good candidate for this procedure?

If you are interested in having a tattoo removed, please contact our office for a free consultation @ 781.595.0151.

HAIR REMOVAL

Utilizing our LUMENIS™ Light Sheer™ diode laser plus our new Candela Gentle Yag™ Laser, we now have the capability to treat dark hairs of any skin type, tanned or not, at any time of the year.

The Light Sheer™ laser works best on fair skinned individuals with fine to medium thickness dark hairs while the Gentle Yag™ laser works well on very thick, densely packed dark hairs or on Caucasians with tans as well as on any people of color.

As many as five treatment sessions spaced one to two months apart may be required to achieve significant permanent hair reduction. Treatments may then be needed once or twice a year to gradually and permanently eradicate more and more hairs.

(PDT) PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY For Sun Damaged Skin

The newest and hottest innovation on the photo rejuvenation front has been Photodynamic Therapy.

The chemical Levulan® is applied via the Kerastick® all over the face. This is left on for one hour to allow adequate absorption by brown spots, and sun damaged skin. Levulan® is then activated by the intense pulsed light (IPL) from the Syneron Aurora™ or with the DUSA® Blu-U Light to produce highly charged radical oxygen atoms which remove brown spots, premalignant cells and generally improve the tone, texture and appearance of solar damaged skin.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Although Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) strikingly improves photo-aged skin, significant redness and scaling (like a strong sunburn reaction, 35% TCA or chemical peel) occur which can last up to a week.
