Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is an inherited defect in the skin barrier. It occurs when excessive water is lost and the skin becomes dry, itchy and inflamed. Eczema comes in many forms and can be triggered by a variety of factors, including allergies, environmental factors or family history. The raised, cracked, inflamed skin can appear anywhere on the body, including the face, legs, arms or neck.

At Dr. Goldberg's practice, we specialize in diseases of the skin. Our initial treatment for eczema is prescription corticosteroid creams. Once the eczema is brought under control, maintenance is achieved the skin barier repairing CeraVe® moisturizing cream (which is available for purchase at our office).
