What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a revolutionary procedure that effectively reduces unwanted, stubborn fat using a controlled cooling method. CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared, noninvasive (unlike liposuction) and treatment length starts at just one hour. There is no downtime after CoolSculpting so it is possible to go from your treatment to the gym, to work, the grocery store or any activity one desires. A single CoolSculpting treatment typically results in a 20-25% fat reduction in the treated area.

How does CoolSculpting work?

Our bodies convert excess calories into fat, which is then stored in our bodies fat cells. Fat cells cannot divide, regenerate or move from one area in the body to another. We are born with a certain number of fat cells and when we gain weight, they expand and when we lose weight, they shrink. Therefore, CoolSculpting is truly the most permanent option as it literally eliminates fat cells.

CoolSculpting was originally developed by two Harvard scientists, Dr. Dieter Manstein and Dr. Rox Anderson. They observed that fat cells are more sensitive and vulnerable to cold injury than the skin, muscles, nerves or blood vessels. This was first observed with children who spent hours sucking on frozen popsicles, who later developed dimples and loss of fat cells in their cheeks.

A typical CoolSculpting treatment involves the placement of an applicator over the desired treatment area. These applicators pinch the area using a suction technique which holds the bulge of skin and fat in place while freezing the tissue for one hour. While you are being treated, you can read, get work done, watch tv and relax since there are no needles, no cutting, no anesthesia and no downtime.

You may be asking yourself if the procedure is non-invasive, where do the fat cells go? Our bodies naturally breakdown the dying fat cells through the metabolic process. So the fat cells are then eliminated safely from your body and the important thing is that once they are gone, the fat is gone for good!

Who is a candidate for CoolSculpting?

The best way to determine whether you are a candidate for CoolSculpting is to book a complimentary consultation with our staff. It is important to understand that CoolSculpting is an effective body contouring treatment, this is not a weight loss method. Ideal candidates for CoolSculpting are within 20-30 pounds of their ideal weight and have specific pinch able tissue they want to reduce. During a consultation, our staff will help you identify the areas you are concerned with and determine if you are a candidate.

What can I expect after a CoolSculpting treatment?

There are no restrictions on activities following your treatment. A patient can expect the treated area to feel numb to the touch 2-4 weeks after your treatment. This sensation will go away on its own. In some cases, the suction from the applicator can create bruising which will also go away. Best of all, a reduction of the fatty tissue can be seen in just 4-5 weeks after the treatment and full results can be seen within 90. Our trained staff will be on call for any questions and concerns you have before and after your treatment.
