Injection Therapy
(Sclerotherapy)
Sclerotherapy involves needle injections of sclerosing
agents, such as ethoxysclerol, into areas of
telangiectasia (spider veins). The treated veins turn
purple over several days and then gradually disappear
over several weeks.
Depending on the severity of the condition, a patient
may require 2 – 3 treatments at two month intervals.
Side effects of this therapy may include brownish hyperpigmentation
and telangiectatic matting (where a single treated vein may
splay out into a network of multiple fine vessels). Post treatment
bruising is an expected result and will fade within four to
six weeks.

Candela V-beam™ and Candela Gentle
Yag™ Lasers
These lasers offer the latest technology in treating
spider veins.
The V-beam™ is excellent for targeting fine superficial
spider veins especially on the face. The Gentle Yag™
has a longer wave length than the V-beam™ and penetrates
deeper, thus making it ideal for treating vessels on the thick
skinned legs. Now the larger vessels can be successfully targeted
with the Gentle Yag™, where previously sclerotherapy
was the only viable option. Depending on the individual, one
to three treatments may be necessary.

Rosacea
Rosacea with diffuse redness and flushing, but not
prominent dilated capillaries, is probably best
treated with our FotoFacial RF™ program involving a
series of 5 monthly treatments with the Aurora™ IPL
System by Syneron, Inc.
Dilated capillaries (telangiectases) and spider veins
on the face are best treated with the Candela V-beam™
Laser requiring three treatments each six weeks apart.
Results are usually excellent with at least 85%
improvement. However, significant swelling may occur
which can last for two to three days.
With the addition of our Candela Gentle Yag™ laser,
larger facial vessels, which did not respond that well
to the V-beam™, can now be successfully treated with
one to three sessions.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Side effects may include temporary bruising, and rarely
brownish hyperpigmentation or whitish hypopigmentation.
